When the connection drops
The device shows a strip: "Offline – keep selling, cash only. Orders send once you’re back online." Keep selling for cash; each order is saved on the device straight away. Customers can still scan the receipt QR; the receipt appears once the order has been sent.
QR payments need a connection, because the code has to be created and the money confirmed. While offline the QR panel says "Offline – take cash", with a "Try again" button for when the connection returns.
When orders are sent
With a connection the device sends right after each order and checks every 10 seconds or so for anything left. The "… waiting to send" pill at the top tells you how much hasn’t reached Hensa yet.
It keeps sending while the screen is locked too, so nobody has to unlock it just to get orders up. Orders sold offline show in the Dashboard with "Sold while the POS was offline, received at …".
Offline with the screen locked: on iPad and Android, the person on shift can still unlock with their own PIN, within 24 hours of their last PIN entry made online. After 24 hours, after switching person, or once the device is revoked, unlocking needs a connection. Five wrong PINs while offline lock the device until it is back online – it does not unlock on a timer.
Don’t leave a device offline for long: orders more than 7 days old that were never sent are no longer accepted.
Removing a device from the shop
Broken, lost or replaced: the owner or a manager goes to Settings → POS devices → "Devices" and presses "Revoke" on that row. The device is signed out at once and can’t sell; to use it again it has to be paired again.
For a device that still works, before revoking let it stay online until nothing is waiting to send. That way no order is left behind on it.
72 hours to send the rest
If a revoked device still has unsent orders, it shows "This register was removed from the shop", how many orders and how much money are left, and keeps sending for 72 hours. Only orders sold before the revoke are accepted. When it is done, the device goes back to pairing by itself.
If it can’t reach Hensa, it asks you to connect and tap "Try again". After 72 hours Hensa accepts nothing more from it, and orders sold after the revoke are never accepted. Then compare the drawer with the list of orders on the device, and type DELETE to wipe and remove it.
